Video calls, kiosks and recording stations need sharp images at different distances and usually need sound as well. Chinneo's IMX378 12MP USB camera module is an autofocus camera that works as a driver-free UVC device and carries two digital microphones on the board.

Why autofocus helps here
A fixed-focus board camera is sharp at one distance range. With autofocus, a document held close to the lens and a person further back can both come into focus without anyone adjusting the lens by hand.
Connecting it
Use the USB Type-C port for direct connection. Use the 1.0mm pitch 4-pin connector, supplied as a terminal cable, to wire the camera inside a housing.
Questions to settle before you order
- Unit weight, if it matters for your mount.
- An enclosure. The product images show a 3D-printed case, but it is not stated whether it ships with the camera.
